Sparking wit and trivia…
If you are like most of the non-drooling general public, you are probably sick of boring, unfunny “comedic” drivel that litters the television schedule nowadays. You must be starving for entertainment that can not only be funny but actually :: gasp :: intelligent and that can follow in its former footsteps closely with continuity. Well, my friends, there is a solution. Grab a bowl of popcorn and pop in, (or turn on), The Big Bang Theory!

Jim Parsons stars as Sheldon and Johnny Galecki stars as Leonard, two physicists who live together in an updated version of the Odd Couple.

Sheldon is a neat freak with zero sense of humor who can never tell when someone is being sarcastic and very well may be asexual, since he has never had even a hint of attraction for someone that we have seen.

Leonard is the more down-to-Earth of the two and it is because of Leonard that friends Howard Wolowitz, (Simon Helberg), and Rajesh Koothrappali, (Kunal Nayyar), even bother to come over, since Sheldon is, at most times, almost intolerable, (but somehow quite enjoyable just the same).

Leonard is hopelessly head over heels for his and Sheldon’s neighbor, Penny, (Kaley Cuoco), a personification of the “dumb blonde” stereotype who works at the Cheesecake Factory and serves as the “Rachel” to Leonard’s “Ross”, if this were a Friends scenario. Thankfully, save for one minor hook-up that went nowhere, the sexual tension between them still exists and we are now in season three.

Wolowitz is the lovable sleaze of the group. He has all the one-liners to try and get all the women he can get into bed with him. He is also the inferior one of the group, since he is “only an engineer”, as Sheldon loves to remind him, while the rest of the group have some sort of academic certification. He also finds the wackiest of clothing combinations and lives with his mother who we never see but only hear her, (reminiscent of Charlie Brown’s teacher), and the exchanges between them are hysterical.

Raj has a major problem in that he literally cannot talk to women without the help of alcohol. If they are in a large group, he is fine, but one-on-one, he literally freezes up. Hilarity ensues in season 2 when the group are on a train and Summer Glau guest stars. Raj has a beer to warm himself up to talk to her and Wolowitz is quick to point out that Raj has mistaken the “beer” for a non-alcoholic drink.

In keeping with the Roseanne tradition, (Galecki had his start on the show as Darlene’s boyfriend), The Big Bang Theory has had guest stars Laurie Metcalf as Sheldon’s holy roller mother and Sara Gilbert in the recurring role of Leslie Winkle, the on-again, off-again bed partner for both Wolowitz and Leonard. Christine Baranski also guest stars as Leonard’s mother who immediately hits it off with Sheldon.

The jokes are hysterical, (each episode usually has that one zinger that you’ll quote with your friends), the trivia is enthralling and the characters are lovable. Plus, the commitment to continuity is more impressive than shows previous to this. Former jokes are revisited further down the line to reinforce previous points and to counter certain actions from occurring in such a way that you’ll be saying to yourself, “well done!” Plus, the whole group is incredible in terms of acting with the way they regurgitate such long lines of dialogue with no hesitation–truly impressive.

Again over priced
Buying the two seasons of The Big Bang Theory separatly are cheaper then buying the set. Does Amazon think people aren’t paying attention? This is such a bad year and yet Amazon keeps trying to get away with higher prices! This time it’s against themselves!

There are satisfactory, glowing princes who traverse afar for the top-notch of society, defending the outmoded, giving money to the bad… And then there’s Gokudo. An ill-tempered, lecherous, money-grubbing adventurer whose only thoughts are for his gain safety and pleasure, he manages to accidentally establish at least four people every episode, usually stealing from them in the process. His goals are never impartial, and his methods are execrable, but he’s got spunk. Each episode is laugh-out-loud hilarious, the fight scenes are most obedient, and the enemies are estimable. A must-see for the Slayers fan.

Gokudo: Collection Extraordinare collects all the six individually released disks for the series and assign them in one over-sized pack. Spanning 26 episodes this is both one really looong breath of new air compared to your typical fantasy anime.

First of, let me say one thing. I simply can’t benefit but Cherish Gokudo, the exraordinary main character! Seeing him mess things up in his unending quest for fame and riches (in the most arrogant map possible) is encredibly interesting. In short I’m a puny biased in this review, but who wouldn’t be after loving a series.

The demonstrate features about five main account arcs that really go all over the plot. One has Gokudo felling the Magic King from power, another has him reach in conflict with the Buddah, God and Magic World races in one spacious confrontation and yet another has him face off against Buddaha and Magic World people with the fate of the entire world resting on his actions! A runt over the top, I know, but the slap-stick, often bright (a better word would be contextual…), keeps things running light. Gokudo and his companions are always fighting and arguing. Fighting and arguing. Not at all what you’d always request from a group who’s destined to set the world… somehow.

Basically, you have more comedy than you can shake a stick at and, even though it won’t appeal to everybody, it will definetally have an impression. The enlighten actors (in both Japanese and Enlgish) to a top-notch job making everything… absurd. As for set, it may score a microscopic overwhelming and overcomplicated with so great going on so mercurial throughout the reveal that is may loose other peole who unprejudiced want to relax their brains and go on auto.

“Chicken Hurry” (the latest from Aardman Studios, the makers of the ‘Wallace and Gromit’ films) is simply the most palatable, visually wonderful, and FUN though-provoking movie since Disney’s “The Lion King.” Other studios (notably Warner Brothers) have tried to capture a bite out of Disney’s pie-share of the kid-movie market, but Aardman and Dreamworks have done it best in this charming, hilarious, and edge-of-your-seat thrilling titillating fantasy about a group of hens trying to smash out of a chicken farm. Running the farm with an cross peer and an iron ax are the villainous Mrs. Tweedie and her henpecked (literally) husband, who’s positive those chickens are plotting race. The voices are perfect, from Julia Sawalha and Joan Horrocks from “Absolutely Unbelievable” as chickens to Mel Gibson as the “flying” rooster Rocky. I want to recommend that every parent assume their kids to seek this one: unlike many other original cartoons, this one is completely valid for all but the very youngest children (there’s some tense moments in a rush at the demolish, and a minute threatening to the chickens with an ax), but even better, this will delight and amuse the adults with its clever animation, perfect voice-casting, witty visual allusions to noted movies like “The Astronomical Flee,” “The Bridge over the River Kwai,” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” and Indiana Jones-type thrills that range from a trail inside an automatic chicken pie-making machine to a dramatic and climatic hurry that is reminiscent of, but even improves on, the high-energy run sequences of Aardman’s “Wallace and Gromit” films. The right lessons (you can succeed better with teamwork; stand by your friends) are pointed but gentle, without hitting kids over the head. I can’t recommend this one highly enough, folks, whatever age you are. And if you head out of the theater and go eat a chicken pot pie, you have a powerful, powerful, harder heart than mine!

Well, what an absolute joy and surprise this movie turned out to be. I was dumb-founded from begin to enact as to how the animators actually created this magical stop-motion recount. In the past three days I have watched this disc over and over again, not dumb of it at all. The chronicle (ala “Stalag 17″ and “The Gigantic Rush”) is simple yet effective. A group of English hens constantly place and intention to elope from their chicken farm, hasten by the tyrannical Mrs Tweedy (the assure of Miranda Richardson), before they are turned into chicken pies. Their only hope comes in the shape of a cocky, intrepid American rooster named Rocky Roads (Mel Gibson in his best performance to date) . “Chicken Hasten” is filled with tall adult one-liners and jokes and is packed with every war/escape movie cliche know to this genre. It will also appeal to the limited ones. The disc is colossal value. The DTS soundtrack is gorgeous awesome and really kicks into power when the chicken pie oven blasts into action….WOW! The video transfer is crystal determined, which adds an extra dimension to the clay models. The extras are fun also. The “Chicken Apprehension” button is very cute, “The Making Of” docos (there are two) are VERY intriguing and informative, and there is huge information about the movie hidden throughout the menus….you have to win them! The highlight of the disc is the exclaim of Jane Horrocks (”Diminutive Direct” and Bubble from “Ab Fab”) who steals the exhibit as Babs the monotonous hen! She’s hysterical. Construct positive you capture this disc for your DVD library. You won’t be disappointed! If this movie doesn’t gather an Oscar at next year’s Academy Awards….I’ll give up poultry for life!

Michelangelo Antonioni’s 1966 film adaptation of Julio Cortazar’s “Blow-Up,” perhaps Antonioni’s best known work, represents a truly expansive adaptation of a short record, though the film on its gain composed stands as a large artistic acheivement. This is perhaps the greatest genius of the film adaptation.

More than any other film that comes to mind, “Blow Up” illustrates the adage distinguishing the novelist from the filmmaker: the former’s inconvenience is to effect the valuable visible whereas the latter’s passion is to bring significance to the visible. Tiny does it matter that the film’s protagonist fails in that quest. Antonioni manages to accomplish the search itself so captivating that the “whodunnit” motif of the anecdote is incidental to the paddle itself. “Pictures don’t lie” is another aged bromide being establish to the test by this film’s modern thematizing of the photographic process itself, and Antonioni’s accomplishment is to maintain the spirit if not the letter of the statement. Watching the film in the theater was a inspiring and unforgettable experience. This movie has been a staple with our family since first released on video, in fact we have feeble 3 tapes out of the new and I have impartial purchased the dvd, which is outstanding!! The colour and quality are suitable and the myth and reveal overs are a promenade relieve to glory days of English gentility. I especially relish this point to fair tad bit more than others, as this reveal helped bring me out of a dim depressing time I went through early one year, when I happened to stumble upon this present again on a PBS channel, and uncouth and contemplate by some freak of nature they were airing some of the episodes in the early to mid 90’s.

I highly recommend this is purchased for any puny one who shows an interest in dance. We bought this DVD for our daughter when she turned 2; now almost three she has amazed us by the plan she uses the dances Paula and Zoe demonstrate; particularly ballet. At her nursery they are convinvced she goes to dance classes as she performs what she’s learnt so beautifully! It’s all done in simple gradient steps and shows a suitable variety of types of dance as well as ethnic dance - well worth the import to Brighton, England.

I recently bought Zoe’s Dance Moves for my niece’s 3rd birthday. She LOVES it. The different dances support her attention and up and engaging the whole time. The nice surprize is that my 7 year musty niece who thinks she is too veteran for Sesame Street is mesmerized by it too. She dance moral along with Paula and Zoe. It nice to have a DVD they can both agree on and are up dancing to vs. sitting and watching. And as always with Sesame Street the multi-ethnicity is big.

Over the years, it seems that the Robin Hood saga has been a celebrated of sorts for film makers to re-invent, manipulate, and showcase again and again. No doubt due to global appeal and the premise of a hero taking from the rich, giving to the unpleasant, and fighting the splendid fight.

Of all the Robin Hood films ever produced, it’s readily apparent that Prince of Thieves relies less on first-rate historical accuracy and leans more toward Hollywood flair which tranquil makes for an exciting film. Despite using no English accent (which appears to grate on some reviewers for some reason), Kevin Costner presents himself well in the role of Robin Hood. Coupled with gorgeous performances from Morgan Freeman, Alan Rickman, Christian Slater, and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, (to name impartial a few), the myth moves at an appealing hobble and hits the impress as a stand up adventure movie that doesn’t disappoint.

As for the original 2 disc special edition release of this movie, it fair got a whole lot better. Not having to flip the disc over any more to view the entire feature like in the first release, you now have a modern digital transfer and a remastered DTS 5.1 soundtrack and both are outstanding. On disc 2 you have ample bonus material enhancing the value and enjoyment even further. Included is a decent documentary on the making of Prince of Thieves, Bryan Adams performing his music video of ‘(Everything I do) I do it for you’, an interactive mediaeval weapons gallery, cast and crew bios, production notes, interviews with cast and crew, and trailers and t.v. spots.

You don’t really have to be a die-hard Robin Hood fan to indulge in this movie. The film has a few flaws and stretches the historical aspect somewhat but it plays out well with plenty of action, adventure, humor, and fun. This special edition release would be a friendly addition to any DVD collection and I recommend it to everyone.

Peter doesn’t create it, but wants Robin to promise that he will protect his sister, Marion. Robin agrees and finds his diagram home with Azeem. They observe Robin’s father monotonous and their servant blinded. The Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman, who is perfect in the role) killed Robin’s father and is doing snide deeds to the abominable people in the site. Robin and Azeem waste up in Sherwood Forest and meet its occupants, including John Limited and Will Scarlett. They all team up and settle to fight support against the Sheriff. (94/100)

Acting - A lot of people despise how Kevin Costner speaks in this movie. I really didn’t stare a change in his vow at all. So it didn’t really bother me! I belief Kevin did well as Robin. Christian Slater and Alan Rickman were the two who stole the movie. Christian was mountainous as the mysterious and confusing Will Scarlett. Alan Rickman was hilarious and infamous as the Sheriff. They both were tremendous and should have deserved tall credit for their positions. Also, there is a short cameo by Sean Connery. (96/100)

Action and Violence - There is a lot of action and violence in this movie. It could have been rated R. There is a lot of swordplay, arrows being fired into faces, fist fights, and blood. I contemplate any action man would like this movie. Distinguished Action Scenes : Overrun By Celts, Fiery Assault, Cheating The Hangman, Storming The Castle, and Final Duel. To check out these scenes, engage the DVD and access them through Scene Selection. (95/100)

Sexual Themes - There are some sexual themes in this narrative. There is a scene where Marion is about to be raped from the Sheriff. Also, Robin swims around nude under a waterfall. So there is some sexual teach. I don’t really contemplate it was needed though. (89/100)

The Two Discs and The Extended Version - The extended version is very righteous. It explains a lot more about the Sheriff. There is also some action keep into some places. It is worth the money.

The extended version comes with two discs. Thankfully, you didn’t have to “turn the disc over” to inspect the “whole” movie. So I was cheerful that I could unbiased see the whole feature film on one disc. The other discs are loaded with extras. There is commentaries, documentaries, making of features, galleries, trailers, and more.

Overall, this movie is very well done. It is very righteous and worth the money to bewitch. Don’t accumulate the modern disc. It isn’t worth it! Honest purchase this. It has tons of action, romance, some comedy, pleasing sets and landscapes, and fair an all around stout feel to it.
