“Easy Rider” directed by Dennis Hopper, produced by Peter Fonda and written by Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Terry Southern was a crude budget film ($340 substantial) that surprisingly became a box office crash. The epic is about two hippys (Fonda & Hopper) who pick choppers with cash they’ve gotten from a drug deal. They travel improper country heading to Louisianna (to Mardi Gras) and on their arrangement meeting different people, visiting a commune of hippys, ending up in jail, going to a brothel, taking acid etc. The ending was disturbing in 1969 and level-headed is, even in these days of non-stop violence in our country. This 35th Anniversary Edition is identical to the regular dvd version of “Easy Rider” with the real same bonus material “The Making-Of Documentary “Easy Rider: Shaking The Cage” (feat. interviews with Fonda, Hopper, etc.) and an audio commentary by Dennis Hopper plus production notes. The bonuses for this 35th Anniversary Edition are a cd which includes eight songs (do not confuse this cd with the real “Easy Rider Soundtrack” as it is not) . The songs are “Born To Be Wild” - Steppenwolf, “The Weight” - Smith, “Nights In White Satin” - The Morose Blues, “Wasn’t Born To Follow” - The Byrds, “San Francisco Nights” - Eric Burden And The Animals, “The Pusher” - Steppenwolf, “It’s Alright Ma (I’m Only Bleeding) ” - Roger McGuinn and “Secure Together” - The Youngbloods. The 80 page book “Easy Rider” by Lee Hill is provocative and includes all you’ll ever want to know about the film. The bottom line is, if you already bear the regular dvd of “Easy Rider” I’d pass on this 35th Anniversary Edition. Of course, if you don’t absorb this classic film it may be worth the extra cash for the bonus cd and book.

I bought this title because I am a motorcyclist. If you have never ridden one and want to know what it is like, this movie will buy you on a virtual road creep from Los Angeles through glowing mountain scenery down to Mardi Gras in Recent Orleans. The two stars, Peter Fonda (Wyatt) and Dennis Hopper (Billy), head out on the highway to the motorcycle anthem, “Born to Be Wild” by Steppenwolf, and there are some fabulous camera shots of them crossing the Colorado River. If that scene doesn’t win your blood pumping, then you can be assured that motorcycling isn’t for you.

There’s a lot more to this movie than unprejudiced scenic motorcycling and sixties music. A typical biker movie has a feeble area, usually challenging some gang terrorizing the local community. Before creating this movie, Fonda and Jack Nicholson (George), as well as some of the other cast members all appeared in such flicks. By incompatibility, “Easy Rider” is really a mold-breaker for its type, because it involves a lot of social commentary.

Early in the movie, Billy and Wyatt capture up a stranger along the highway, who turns out to be the leader of a commune. He is a lifeless ringer for John Lennon, when he had his Sgt. Pepper examine. Wyatt and the stranger score along well, but Billy is suspicious of the hitchhiker. They occupy him attend to his commune and hang out for awhile there with the people. Wyatt fits in OK, but Billy is not generally respected. Many of them perform fun of Billy. For some time, this was very hard for me to anecdote for, since Billy is a freak.

I did not collect any insights into this until I read the book, “Riders On the Storm” by Doors’ drummer, John Densmore. In it, he explains how the Doors, who were from Los Angeles, were not invited to play the Monterey Pop Festival. San Francisco flower power was about peace and savor, and Jim Morrison, the lead singer, gave off an aggressive vibe. Densmore also said that some distinguished flower power musicians did not want to be publicly associated with The Doors. For instance, John Sebastian agreed to play harmonica on “Roadhouse Blues,” but he would not allow his genuine name to be broken-down in the credits. I maintain that the inequity in values between Los Angeles and San Francisco is crucial to view why Billy was rejected by the commune members.

Wyatt and Billy are not from San Francisco, and they do not wear psychedelic clothing. They hail from Los Angeles, and they are preoccupied with freedom–not peace and savor. Billy has a loyal aggressive vibe to him. He is very confrontational, and he doesn’t accept along well with others. Wyatt is more of a seeker. He is open-minded and fervent in what other people have to offer. They’re both rich, but not through lawful or reputable means. They smuggled some cocaine across the border from Baja, Mexico, and then they sold it for a ample profit. The two are friends, and they seem to have favorite each others strengths and weaknesses.

The movie makes some sure statements about sixties social values and morals. In other cases, it brings up issues, but doesn’t come any firm conclusions. The movie ends tragically, but it isn’t an indictment of flower power. Billy had rejected peace and admire, and had he not reacted in the confrontational manner that he did, things might have turned out differently. This movie is about the tradgedy and failure of hate–and the need for peace, cherish, and opinion. I give this movie a five-star rating because it documents the issues of the times so effectively. As a motorcycle movie, this production is practically unbeatable because it has captured the spirit of motorcycling so well.

I enjoyed this DVD myself. The other posters and the opening review have given a salubrious view of what it’s all about. The Mahalia Jackson and Shirely Ceasar performances (both recorded in England, the primitive in 1984 and the latter in 1964) are almost worth the impress of admission as both are quite grand.

The narrators, by the intention, are identified during the proceedings. They include Rev. Wyatt T. Walker, one of Dr. King;s associates, and Dr. Horace Boyer, a scholar of gospel music who I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and having heard recount at a local college once.

However, you want to fracture the DVD when the editors STUPIDLY lop up an extremely rare clip of the Edwin Hawkins Singers singing one of the greatest gospel records of all time, “Oh Cheerful Day” (this is the DVD age-no reason why an entire perfromance cannot appear as an extra) . The beloved Clara Ward and her singers are shown as they are warming up to build a rousing rendition of “When the Saints Go Marching In” and the clip is chop honest as Miss Ward and co. are raring to cook! A number of other tunes are presented in their intirety. Who was the IDIOT that edited this thing?

That aside, it’s extraordinary. You will surely play it more than once.

It’s favorable to say that gospel music is fervent, piquant, considerable and healing. This British (BBC) documentary is well-put together, very insightful with many gospel performances. However, the producers failed to identify on conceal, interviewees, commentators or performers. You must pay terminate attention to what is said, or try to follow the names on the assist of DVD mask.

The epic of gospel takes us help to the West Africa slave trades, spirituals and revivals to Aretha Franklin. We learn about the earlier singers, touring to introduce this different effective music as did the Fisk University Jubilee, and Mahalia Jackson who brought gospel to a wider world.

You will learn the instruments that incorporate into the gospel. And the sound that is derived from the blues and jazz and you will recognize clips of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the guitar playing gospel singer of the 70’s.

An challenging aspect is on writing the music is and teaching how to articulate and vow the message the music is about.

We are made to understand the political implications of gospel, and the hardships of Preacher Shirley Caesar taking gospel on the road in the days of segregation. More profound luminaries include the Godfather of Gospel Thomas Dorsey and Reverend James Cleveland.

By the time you effect, you have a titanic notion of the music of gospel as we are treated to some huge commentators. One impressive commentator is a dim man sitting at the piano with an exceptional musical and speaking mutter. Again, we don’t learn his name.

This DVD is well-behaved!!……Marrianne Rizzuto

The most principal thing you need to know is that most of the women I know think “Body Heat” to be the sexiest movie they have ever seen. Now, I do not feel that plan, but I am graceful determined I can interpret the incompatibility in judgment. Then again, writer-director Lawrence Kasdan created sexual tension between Princess Leia and Han Solo, so we should not be surprised at what he can enact in a galaxy closer to home.

Attorney Ned Racine (William Damage) is one of those lawyers whose life is in coast control, the sort that usually win redemption in those John Grisham novels. Instead he meets Matty Walker (Kathleen Turner), a sexual siren with a well-to-do husband who leads him willingly down the path of damnation. Kasdan gets credit for taking 1940s film noir in which like goes terribly corrupt and bringing it into the sexually tantalizing 1980s, but it is Turner who breaths the fire and passion into this film: Believe Lauren Bacall’s throaty protest effect into the sculptured body of a sex goddess and covered in the sweat of a hot and humid Southern summer night. The area takes some exquisite twists and turns as well. “Body Heat” paved the draw for every every other sick and hooked sage of poor savor to arrive down the road since, from “Fatal Attraction” to “Basic Instinct” and beyond.

Most Romantic Lines: “You’re not very incandescent, are you? I like that in a man.” That exquisite worthy sums up this film’s notion of “romance.”

If you like “Body Heat,” then check out these other films on AFI’s list: #49 “The Postman Always Rings Twice” and #84 “Double Indemnity.” Why? Because they are also movies where a guy meets the sort of gal he would ruin to be with–and he does.

Matty: “You’re not too quick-witted. I like that in a man”

Finally upgraded on DVD this top notch film noir looks better better than the previous edition on DVD. It isn’t perfect (image appears a bit soft at times but portion of that was intentionally due to the soft diffuse photography by Richard Kline the other share of that could be due to the interpostive negative aging) We can practically peer the heat and humidity sweat through the TV mask. It also has some very nice extras for fans of the film. John Barry’s sultry accumulate sounds rich and creamy in the 5.1 remix on this disc.

William Distress plays criminal lawyer Ned Racine who gets pulled into an affair with married woman Matty (Kathleen Turner) . She has a solution to all of their woes when she suggests they slay her wealthy husband (Richard Crenna) . Featuring strong performances from a top notch supporting cast including Mickey Rourke and Ted Danson “Body Heat” recalls films like “The Postman Always Rings Twice” with its noir residence but has its maintain new twists and turns.

The previous edition had very limited in the intention of extras. This re-release includes three featurettes on the production of the film covering everything from pre-production to post -production. We accept out for example that George Lucas personally agreed to underwrite any budget overruns but did so quietly without telling Kasdan and did it on his maintain accord. Also Alan Ladd Jr. insisted that Pain shave his mustache as he felt it made him survey too sleazy (precisely the point) . Kasdan impartial went ahead and shot it his scheme. After they saw the dalies they never complained about it again. Other interviews include novel comments from Damage, Turner, Danson, Editor Carol Littleton, cinematographer Richard Kline and director Kasdan discussing various aspects of the production. Harm has always marched to a different drum and that’s evident in both the novel and current 1981 interviews included with this area. He’s certainly off-beat.We also earn five deleted scenes and the fresh theatrical trailer. While it might have been nice to integrate some of the deleted scenes befriend into the film they wouldn’t have benefited this already tightly coiled film.

This along with “The Gigantic Chill” and Kasdan’s revival of the account western “Silverado” continues to be the highlight of his career as a hyphenate. Although he would go on to writer/direct other absorbing and memorable films such as “The Accidental Tourist”, “Mountainous Canyon” and “Wyatt Earp” (not to mention the underrated “I Admire You To Death”) “Body Heat” established his mastery of both the written word and fleeting image of cinema.

Set in London in the early 1970s, THE BANK JOB is based on valid life events. A group of would be criminals is region up by MI5 (or 6, no one can retain them straight) to consume a bank and salvage compromising photos of a royal personage. Unfortunately for our gang, not only were the photos in quiz (which were the “property” of wrong revolutionary Michael X) kept in a qualified deposit box at this bank, but so were the secrets and lies of many well-known and disagreeable people, including the payola ledgers of a porn kingpin and the photo files of a well-placed local madam. Everybody who was anybody, from the cops on the beat up to the Lords of the Realm, was implicated in some scandal by the evidence from this well-known bank robbery.

THE BANK JOB is a fun, sharp, tension-filled romp. These amateur crooks bag more breaks and have more halt calls than you would imagine possible. While the film does slightly bog down on occasion, for the most section the pacing builds impartial the honest amount of suspense with these twists and turns of fate. In several places, my heart was actually racing. By the slay, our villains are the heroes, and everyone gets what they truly deserve.

I really liked the cinematography of this film. THE BANK JOB actually looks like it was filmed in the 1970s. At one point, I double-checked with my husband to confirm that it was a current movie. The execute former is very convincing, producing a very authentic leer. The ensemble cast was quite first-rate, performing as a cohesive unit, but no individual really standing out.

THE BANK JOB is a enormous movie for an bright evening at home. My husband and I really had a lot of fun. And we got to learn a exiguous history from the 1970s as well.

I wasn’t really involved in The Bank Job until I caught Ebert and Roeper on the tube and heard mucho praise from Richard Roeper, as well as, the guest critic at the time. I wouldn’t effect this on my top ten of the year list, but it was suspenseful and downright inspiring from commence to carry out. I’m not the biggest Jason Statham fan, mainly because he always looks and sounds the same in every role, but here he shows a miniature more range and is quite likeable. Overall, this is a estimable rental that got overlooked by many during it’s theatrical speed.

This film was really splendid. By the waste of the movie, I did not condone what was done, but I understood. How many of us know people who came succor after fighting for their country, and they are working jobs that suck, and living a tough life. That’s splendid considerable the message I got from the film. I peer this movie about once a month, I like it that mighty. Chris Tucker had a role in this film that makes you stand up and purchase peruse. I would cherish to study him in more dramas in the future. He could do the roles.

Is Larenz Tate one of the most slept on, talented young dismal actors in Hollywood today? I have to say YES!! He brings a deep intensity to objective about any role he plays. “Stupid Presidents” is unprejudiced more proof of that and this film probably shows the best performance of Tate’s career.

In this film, he’s Anthony, an idealistic young high school graduate from the Bronx who enlists in the Marine Corps in the tedious 1960s and is shipped off to abet in Vietnam. Along with a couple of his high school buddies, he witnesses horrific violence and death there like he’s never seen, comes support home after his tour of duty ends and finds it hard to adjust to civilian life. He finds that after serving his country, his country has very tiny to offer him in return. This was a jam faced by many young men coming home from Vietnam, and one that was even harder on dim men like Anthony. He has no job, no money, and begins looking for other ways to serve himself. Eventually he finds a job, but it is barely enough to pay the bills. He also has to deal with jealous guys from the neighborhood who envy him for various reasons.

Having a young daughter to serve and a shady pregnant girlfriend who was his high school sweetheart (Rose Jackson Moye), the financial pressures originate to mount in Anthony’s life. As things initiate to crumble around him, he then begins to have thoughts of resorting to breaking the law in order to try space things moral in his life, and hatches a view to pull off this high-stakes heist. He enlists his willing friends, who are also looking to catch rich hastily, in his dwelling. However, the reprecussions of this place are deadly.

The Hughes Brothers (”Menace II Society”, “From Hell”) have done a knockout job with this well-written, well-directed film with the Vietnam War as a backdrop and how it affected young sunless men in its aftermath. But I feel the main point of it was that even the most determined, upstanding and law-abiding person can resort to doing something unthinkable if they are desperate and they are pushed far enough. In that aspect, anyone can picture to this film. Along with Larenz’s performance, Keith David, Chris Tucker (who shows he has Staunch acting chops in this film - his performance is unforgettable), Bokeem Woodbine and Freddy Rodriquez as Anthony’s buddies pull out all the stops to develop nothing short of a realistic and dramatic experience for the viewer. The soundtrack is fantastic as well. Definitely a must-see.

28. “Harpo Marx”: Again to mark the visiting Carolyn Appleby, Lucy pretends to be Harpo Marx, but the sincere Harpo (himself, 1888-1964) shows up!

29. “Ricky Needs an Agent”: When Lucy poses as Ricky’s agent, she accidentally has his movie contract cancelled.

30. “The Tour”: Lucy & Ethel leave their Hollywood tour bus so that Lucy can choose a grapefruit from Richard Widmark’s (himself) garden.

Paramount Home Video’s reliable job of packaging all 31 episodes of the third season of “I Fancy Lucy” onto 5 DVD’s is a righteous indication as to how they will similarly package the fourth season. Overall, for worthy packaging and a huge note, I rate the “I Savor Lucy: The Complete Fourth Season” DVD box spot with an anticipatory 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it!

Luther Heggs is a tranquil mannered typesetter fair waiting to rupture out and note the world that he can be a reporter. When the nervous, troubled, and loveable bug-eyed reporter wanna be is dared to exhaust the night in the venerable stunned Simmons mansion, he feels this is his chance. There are a lot of curious things that happen in this primitive house. People picture of hearing creepy organ music wondering if the unsolved kill victim is haunting the stale house. The newspaper editor thinks it is a fantastic concept, and decides to give Luther the chance he has been dreaming about since the anniversary of the murder/suicide is approaching. When Luther spends the fated night, he barely makes it past midnight tearing from the house spouting tales of a ghost playing the organ, shears embedded in a portrait, and secret passage ways. When Luther tries to exhibit the events he experienced in the house, he ends up looking like a fool when they cannot be recreated. As he solves the mystery, he takes the whole audience along for the mosey.

Don Knotts is advantageous in this movie! His physical comedic skills could not be done any better. The supporting cast brought together for this film was very well cast. Some of the cast members will also be familiar to those that have followed Knotts career with Andy Griffith.

I first saw this Don Knotts comedy relieve in the behind Sixties…and it stuck with me. (Especially the tune the organ plays.) The scenes of nervous, bungling, bug-eyed Don Knotts made me laugh out loud then — and they calm do now. So I was really delighted when this movie was finally released on video a few years ago. My only gripe now is that I wish it were out on DVD because I’m clear I’ll wear out my video before too long!

Of course, I’m a vast fan of the Andy Griffith Reveal. So that probably explains why I like this movie so powerful. Don Knotts was largely responsible for making that exhibit the big hit that it was. And, if you like his schtick on Griffith, you’ll like this movie.

In fact, there are about a half dozen or more actors who appear in the movie — most fair briefly — who also worked with Knotts on the Andy Griffth Explain. Hal Smith, Ellen Corby, Hope Summers, Burt Mustin and Rita Shaw to name unprejudiced five. So it was fun to occupy out the familiar faces. The movie was even written by two of the Andy Griffith Show’s most prolific writers!

Knotts has the nervous man character down so well that some scenes in the film are almost painful to scrutinize (like when he’s giving his speech — “I’ve been called dauntless. What is courageous? Let me elaborate this” — before the picnic crowd gathered in his honor), but I can’t relieve myself. He’s comic.

I won’t go into the site because so many others have already reviewed it. I honest wanted to add my two cents (and Five Stars) to the other reviews.

The bottom line: this is a fun movie, spacious for the whole family. If you haven’t seen it, please do so. Determined it’s corny. Positive it looks dated. But it’s not supposed to be Citizen Kane. It’s impartial a substantial popcorn movie to fragment with friends and family.

Groucho, Chico, Harpo - all certifiably wacko in a double dip of comedies. The Marxmen Go West (Side A) to where the sun always shines, the fun never sets and where they outwit a land grabber. Highlights include the $1 scam, the stagecoach ride, Chico and Harpo bellying up to the bar and the train-chase finale. What fools these mortals be and what fuls they need. The boys chop up passenger cars to get wood to stoke the locomotive. They go east in The Big Store (Side B), becoming detectives-cum-bodyguards for a department store. Crime is afoot in the store or, if in the Fabrics Department, by the yard. Still, our sleuths don’t have a clu except in laughing matters. Chico and Harpo share a piano keyboard, beds disappear into walls, roller skates provide in-store mobility and Groucho warbles Sing While You Sell. Sold!
